Hong Kong has been relying heavily on imported goods. Brands from Japan and Taiwan are often revered, while local products are often regarded as old fashioned and irrelevant to current trends. The cost of production has risen dramatically as rent and salary increases, leading to loss in competitive advantages compared with other Asian cities. As the manufacturing industry in Hong Kong continues to shrink in the last few decades, less and less businesses are willing to invest in developing local brands, let alone promoting international sales. The market was further worsened when COVID hit the city as food supplies were disrupted and businesses were forced to shut down.
We found solutions to turn these unfavourable conditions into opportunities through automating our production line while minimising risk of human error. When cinemas and bars were suspended, we designed popcorn and bottled cocktails that are ready to be enjoyed at home. Also, instead of mass-produced FMCG, our products focus on the higher-end market. The brands are also designed to promote Hong Kong culture and value to the international stage. We believe that we can also apply our experience and knowledge to provide consulting services to other brands.
