The research impact of our AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) rehabilitation training platforms reaches the top level in the field of online rehabilitation platform. Clinical data from users have shown significant clinical improvement after training for 800 minutes with our system. The unique features of AR rehabilitation platform include having enough clinical trials and data for supporting the efficiency of the device; providing more than 45 special designed training activities by Hong Kong physiotherapists and occupational therapists; using the state-of-the-art 3D body tracking technology to give users real-time, objective AR visual and audio instruction and feedback during an exercise program, this ensuring the accuracy of the user action and the fun of the training. We developed intelligent algorithms to capture and store the movement data of the users in the training process for intelligent user performance evaluation and scoring as well as future training plan development. Recovery effects have been scientifically proven by using our platform. It reduces the cost of effective health care planning and resources allocation from the government, lowers the social economic burden of ageing, motivates patients’ willingness in actively participating in rehabilitation training and improves patients’ quality of life.
First, AR system can contribute in reduce the workload of therapist and more patient can be served. As the improvement of technologies applied on AR system like Augmented Reality, 3D whole-body technology tracking technology, cloud database, AR system save the time of therapist and allow user to have rehabilitation training at home. Therefore, more patient can be serviced, especially the patient without mobility. Those rehabilitation service would not be influenced under the situation of non-emergency services stopped as covid-19.
Second, AR system is research-based tele-rehabilitation training platform with updated technologies. There are no so many similar substitutes in the market. It boosts the progress of society to use new technologies. It also diversifies the market and different type of rehabilitation as tele-rehabilitation is new concept to the market after covid-19.
Third, AR system contribute in academic search and study. All the usage data in could can be applied on academic search and study, as well as improve the product itself. For example, the performance of user, usage of patient and therapist, and improvement of training exercise are valuable data for academic search and study.
